4th of July : Red, White and Blue Fashion

Red, White and Blue Fashion by zin-s

With the end of June comes the beginning of July which means the 4th of July! Whilst I'm not American, red, white and blue are also patriotic colours in Britain (at the moment.....) so this post is more about celebrating the great collaboration of these colours.

Wearing these bold, block colours work so well and I think you should be able to wear them together without looking like a flag. Nonetheless, wearing them in a way that subtly hints at the flags colours, such as in this outfit, you'll be turning heads because of your great fashion sense instead.

This outfit is also quite minimalist because there isn't any detail. Wearing a swimming costume into your outfit is an especially clever idea for summer. If you're going to the beach, a pool party or even the local swimming baths, it's an easy way to quickly get ready to make a splash.

Dressing for the 4th of July doesn't have to be done by wearing as many items as clothing with the flag on, but simply using the colours.

What do you think of wearing these three colours together?

Luna - Free Somebody MV Outfit

Luna - Free Somebody MV Outfit

Luna - Free Somebody MV Outfit by zin-s

Luna has released her first solo album with the title track 'Free Somebody' and I cannot stop listening to it!  Everybody loves a good feel good pop song and that's exactly what it is. However, I am not reviewing the song in this post, but the outfit and how to achieve the same look without spending £225 on that DHL t-shirt.

Firstly, because the main feature of this outfit is the bright and bold statement t-shirt you want to find something similar. This doesn't have to have anything on it at all but the point of this outfit is centred around some sort of logo or symbol at least.

To keep with the simplicity, the rest of the outfit is very easy to achieve. Team your top with some black shorts (I think Luna actually wears running shorts but denim is fine) and some block heels. This outfit has taken different elements of 80's fashion but brought them up to date with the current trends.

Finally, put in your daring dangling earrings, some pretty pink lipstick and flattering false eyelashes and you're ready to go out and free somebody.

I absolutely adore this look, do you?

The Formal Minimalist

The Formal Minimalist

The Formal Minimalist by zin-s

Minimalist style is the only style you'll ever need whether you're dressing for a hot summer's day to attending a formal occasion. In this post, I'll be giving you tips on how to formally dress like a minimalist.

Firstly, don't have more than three colours in your outfit but try to focus on two. Minimalism is all about having as little things going on as possible, which is why in the outfit above there are three colours. One of the colours only appears once, in the shoes, and it acts an equaliser to stop the outfit being monochrome.

In a minimalist formal style, dresses and skirts are welcome but I think minimalism opens more options when you wear trousers  than other styles. If you're wanting to wear trousers to a formal event then this is a style that will make your outfit planning a lot easier.

Don't wear patterns. Well, you can but make sure they're delicate and simple with subtle colours. That being said, I think plain clothing works best.

Finally, jewellery should also be kept simple, such as the one in the outfit above. You are allowed to have a bit of fun by having something more exiting on your necklace but don't make it too big or too colourful or it will clash with your formal minimalist attire.

So, these have been a few quick tips on styling minimalism through formal wear and I hope you feel confident in being able to style yourself as a minimalist.

Let me know how you feel about this style.

Wardrobe Basics: Spring Jacket

Wardrobe Basics: Spring Jacket

Wardrobe Basics: Spring Jacket by zin-s

Spring is a season that has us too hot with a jacket on and too cold with it off so thankfully thin and loose fitting blazers are here to save the day. They are easy to pull off with simple looks so here are a few tips on how to style them.

If your blazer is patterned, like the one above, then match it with a plain t-shirt and plain jeans, shorts or a skirt. Your jacket will become your statement piece!

Try and match the rest of your outfit around the colours in the jacket. I have mainly picked out the pale colours from the jacket such as the light blue and coral colours from the flowers. I have used these in the light blue jeans and the coral lipstick.

Have you started wearing your spring items yet? What have you been doing to deal with the warm sun and the cool breeze?

Oh My Girl (오마이걸) Liar Liar MV : Outfit Inspiration

Oh My Girl have a new song called 'Liar Liar' and, like any fashion concious being, the outfits the girls wore really caught my eye. I loved the outfits from the teaser pictures and the music video (which has great aesthetics can I say?). In the MV they mostly wore tops and skirts but I can't lie that loved the top and trouser outfits that were in the teaser images too. Here is some inspired outfits from the cute and fresh concept.

Oh My Girl (오마이걸) Liar Liar - The Top & Trouser Edit

Oh My Girl (오마이걸) Liar Liar - The Top & Trouser Edit

Let's start with the top and trouser edit! This look will take zero effort to pull off because all you need is a striped top and some great fitting jeans. Alternatively, you can style your tee with casual dungarees for an even more effortless look whilst still keeping that fresh and simple vibe.

Oh My Girl (오마이걸) Liar Liar  - The Top & Skirt Edit

If you'd prefer the top and skirt outfits that Oh My Girl wore then it's possibly even simpler! With a high waisted skirt you could wear any kind of top. To work this look, tuck in a top, jumper or shirt to your skirt and you've done it. I love the blue Pure Cotton Frill Striped Blouse from Marks and Spencer's that I've included in the picture above and one of the girls wears a similar one in the video.

Something's to keep in mind are:
1. Don't make your outfit bold. You want to either have a pale coloured skirt or top at least, don't have a deep blue skirt with a bold red top - that's not the point of this look.
2. Keep it simple. It seriously is just a top and skirt or trouser matter, only add one piece of jewellery and wear skin coloured tights.

Do you love this look as much as I do? Let me know!

Pack and Go : Milan Fashion Week

Pack and Go : Milan Fashion Week

Pack and Go : Milan Fashion Week by zin-s

It's fashion week season and this week it's Milan's turn. Not only would this look be perfect for viewing the new Spring/Summer 2016 collections but it's also great for any day trip in a sunny city.

Some key trends in this outfit include the long-pleated skirt and a touch of sportiness (which is great for making you feel sporty when you're not).

I have gone for a navy and white colour scheme for the outfit with compliments of gold jewellery. Nude is the make-up pallet you should have for the entire look to be polished. Finally, stop the sun from stealing your view with some sunnies.

Would do you think of the trends in this look and would you wear them on your next city break?

Winter Neutrals | Outfit

Winter Neutrals

January, to me, is always a hard time to know what to wear. Of course, the clothing has to be warm but it is suddenly unacceptable to wear our festive items that we wore throughout December (I can't think why....). Nonetheless, I have come up with a few ideas that you CAN wear in January.

Neutral colours are good for this time of year in my opinion because the rest of the year allows the bold colours to have their limelight, what with Spring and Summer, and even Autumn.

If you desperately want to wear a skirt with socks (I know I do, for fashion reasons obviously) then don't let the sharp cold stop you. Simply wear skin coloured tights underneath! It is also possible to find skin coloured thick tights too so please don't think you're tough enough to wear just the thin ones if you know you aren't, like me.

Woolly hats with pom-poms seem more like a Christmas novelty to me, so at this time of the year I like to wear baseball caps. To be quite honest, though, I like to wear baseball caps all year round. Baseball caps are also very popular in fashion right now, so don't think you'll look to eager for Summer in one!

I hope this quick outfit has given you some ideas for your January wardrobe and I think I will be posting a lot more about fashion than I previously have been so follow me on Twitter - @Zin97_ to know when I have a new blog post. Whilst I'm talking about social media, I'm also working on my Bloglovin' page too so you can also look forward to that.

Pastel Pop Outfit

PASTEL POP

Is the dull January rain making you feel unmotivated to keep to your new
years resolutions? Stop feeling so down and rebel against the weather with
your wardrobe! Here are some fun ideas to to get you off the sofa and onto
the streets (even if you do need to take a raincoat and umbrella).

1.Sometimes all you need is 1 colourful item to make an outfit bring light
to your face and I suggest starting with a t-shirt. That way you can work
other elements of your look around it - just like I have done in the picture
above.

2.Shorts may be a bit adventurous to go outside in just yet (unless you
want to wear thick tights with them). So when you've got an indoors day,
wear them then. The house will be warm and you'll be organising those
cupboards that you stuffed all your uninteresting Christmas presents in,
right?

3. Trainers are bound to make you want to get up and be active in them,
so get up and get them on!

4. Like I mentioned before, work other elements of your look around the
bright colours. This could be nail varnish, a cap, lipstick or even a pair of
socks. Get creative.

Hopefully with these quick tips you will put a springier step into your
resolutions this January and maybe even keep them going until February
this year...

Outfit Ideas Diary - Oversized Winter Sweater

Outfit Ideas Diary - Oversized Winter Sweater

Whenever I buy an item of clothing that is in trend I get so excited that I don't
think about what I would wear with it, so here is my solution! A deep red
oversized winter sweater is perfect for this winter and so I have put together a
few ideas on what to wear with it.

Firstly, the sweater doesn't have to be deep red. Just to set that straight. Okay,
back to the outfit.

Sweaters can look good on their own (by that I mean without an obvious shirt
underneath) but I think that a collared shirt is perfect for making an outfit
smasual (smart/casual). I also think that this theme is great for this time of year
when there are more formal occasions. I wouldn't wear this to a Christmas party,
mind you.

Not only would a collar be a formal twist on an oversized sweater but also a skirt.
There are two ways that you could possibly style a sweater with a skirt and that is;

  1. Tuck the front of the jumper into the skirt
  2. Leave it un-tucked
Finally, the jeans are here so we don't have to keep to the smasual look! I think
that lighter jeans, like the one in the image, are the best for a relaxed and laid
back outfit but black is what you would go for if you did want to be a bit smarter.

And for shoes.... there are two smarter choices in my pick but the red boots
don't have to be heeled but still of the same Timberland-style boots. Black heels
with this outfit would be the smartest choice and the black sneakers are the casual
and relaxed choice.

I hope this has given you some ideas and inspiration for your winter outfits!

Casual Summer Outfit from Zara

Casual Summer Outfit from Zara

Styling in summer is often a struggle. Unlike the other seasons, all colours
are usually in style. Pastels, patterns, blocks and bolds can be seen on the
street but for this post I'm going to focus on a minimalist and simplistic look
that will keep you cool in the non-existent British summer heat.

I have also chosen all items from Zara because it is a shop that I have, only
recently, really started to love.

Firstly white shorts. Shorts are a great start to any outfit and it's so hard to go
wrong with them even in spring and autumn. In this outfit, the plain white
shorts act as a compliment to the most busiest item in this look - the shirt.
There are three ways you can style the shirt with the shorts;

  1. Tuck it in at the front. I love doing this as it makes an outfit look
    casual and effortless
  2. Tuck it in loosely all the way round. This can sometimes make you
look like a farmer so be really satisfied with the way it looks before
    stepping out the house!
  3. Leave it all un-tucked! Because the shirt being long it can act as a
dress and cover the shorts, however, they are underneath and will
help you to still feel confident if the shirt was to reveal your shorts.
(btw, I go through these three steps with any outfit if I feel it doesn't look
quite right. It's a great start to styling your outfits!)

Next, the shirt! It's loose, it's thin, it's bold but not too eye catching and it's
perfect for a summer outfit
. You can try styling this with jeans and skirts as
well because I think this is a great all-rounded shirt.

For this outfit, the shoes and the bag should be white or a similar blue to
the shirt but you don't want something bolder than the shirt. The shoes and
bags I chose will give the outfit a perfect vibe for a city sight-seeing or
shopping trip.

Finally, I picked an ear cuff (with earrings) and a bracelet which will make the
outfit look a bit more girly and feminine whilst adding a perfect 'cherry on top'

to the outfit.

I hope you can pick up some style tips from this post

Little Mix Black Magic Outfits

Little Mix Black Magic Outfits

I have really been loving Little Mix's new song Black Magic and also
the style that they have in the music video when  they go from having
zero fashion sense to sporting really cute outfits so I will be showing
some inspired outfits for each of the members.

Firstly, Jade has a smart and sophisticated outfit that coordinates really
well. She wears a white top with a high neck (but not a turtle neck) top
underneath a pain red cardigan with a checked black and white skirt.
She also wears a small bag and smart heels.

This outfit is simple, sophisticated and bold without drawing in loads
of attention and I think it would be a really good thing to wear to a
smart-casual dinner or outing and would also work well for a work
outfit.

Leigh-Anne also has a sophisticated outfit on but I would say it is a
bit more chic. The light, pastel colours make the outfit fun whilst it is
still very simple with a  plain bralet, skirt, blazer and shoes. This outfit
would be good for a dinner or even a night out.

Jesy wears a coordinate outfit from clothing brand Glamorous which
isn't pricey (it is maybe out of my clothes spending range but I would
consider buying it at that price) and also has a similar colour pallet to Jade.

The top and shorts are red black and cream that is complimented with
some accessories and some block black heels. This outfit isn't as
sophisticated and as smart as the others but it would be good to wear
for a casual special occasion or something like a summer BBQ with
friends.

Perrie's has a similar colour pallet to Leigh-Anne as it is pale colours.
Again it is simply just a cropped top with a skirt and sparkling heels.
Perrie also has some accessories to compliment the style.

This outfit is sophisticated also whilst also have a fun style so would
be good for a night out or a dinner.

I hope you can get some summer outfit inspiration from these looks
and please check out my polyvore where I have been given the status
of 'style spotter'
